Example 1: Direct cooling or freecooling
Increasingly, borehole heat exchangers are not only used for heating purposes, but also for cooling.
During the cooling period, room cooling (e.g. 18/23°C) is often possible by direct cooling from the borehole heat exchanger field. It is important that the BHE field and the cooling demand are coordinated. If the cooling load is too high, the fluid temperature in the BHE field reaches 18°C prematurely and an increasing shortfall in the required cooling occurs.
